Pringle Bay: Tours

Our West Coast Workshop is all about embracing the raw beauty and ever-changing moods of the ocean.

Here, rugged coastlines meet open skies, where crashing waves, windswept rocks, and iconic lighthouses create endless opportunities for creative photography. Add to that the burst of spring flowers that carpets the land with vibrant colour, and you have a region that feels alive, full of texture, movement, and contrast.

For photographers, the West Coast is a canvas that rewards both patience and playfulness. Wide-angle lenses let you lean into the drama of a sweeping shoreline or capture the expansive carpets of wildflowers stretching toward the horizon. A telephoto, meanwhile, can help you pick out subtler stories; the geometry of jagged rocks, seabirds cutting across the surf, or the soft light hitting a lighthouse at dusk. Long exposures, filters, and creative angles can transform crashing waves into painterly streaks of motion, or highlight the stillness that follows a retreating tide.

With Kyle and Jon by your side, you’ll explore not just the technical aspects of seascape and nature photography, but also the art of observation; how to anticipate the rhythm of the ocean, respond to changing light, and find balance between foreground detail and vast horizons. The West Coast invites experimentation: bold compositions, abstract studies of water and rock, and vibrant bursts of colour that bring contrast to moody skies.

Above all, this workshop is about experience. The sound of the sea, the salt in the air, the thrill of chasing light across the shoreline; it all feeds into the images you create. Between shared learning, laughter, and time in one of South Africa’s most picturesque regions, you’ll not only come away with a portfolio of striking photographs, but also a deeper connection to the landscapes that inspire them.
